Jumpstart Jr Foundation was founded in the Netherlands in 2006 with private fundings. Our mission is to support and encourage talented young musicians, who have already completed a musical education and are recognised to become leading performers. We offer them - on loan - one of our beautiful (gut) string violins or cellos, crafted by old masters between 1600 – 1800 AD, in a Baroque or nearly-Baroque set up. Apart from this high quality instrument, we offer these Talents bespoke career-support, as well as participation in special projects designed by Jumpstart Jr. Foundation, sometimes in co-operation with partners(s). On top of this, we introduce them to our extensive international network of musicians, artistic directors, conductors etc.

By offering an outstanding instrument to an exceptional talent, in combination with the additional other support, we provide a wonderful opportunity to ‘jumpstart’ his or her career. Our goal is to help these ambitious and passionate young people develop into international top performers.

We focus on instruments from the Baroque period and those young musicians who express a strong interest in the Historically Informed Practice, or ‘period performance’: to perform the music in a way and according to the criteria of the period the music was conceived. We just love the way these young musicians bring (back) to life the old music on old instruments: young digging old!

There is an extra benefit to this arrangement; by lending instruments of extraordinary quality and reputation to performing young Talents, we ensure that these pieces of cultural and historical heritage will continue to exist in pristine condition, for the enjoyment of generations to come.
