Gagliano, Nicolo 1775

Among the great makers of the Neapolitan tradition, Nicolo Gagliano, son of Alessandro, is known for his consistently high standards of craftsmanship and sound quality.  His instruments are among the most highly sought-after of the Gagliano family.

This exquisite cello is an excellent example of his work.  
The back, in two pieces of maple with flames of medium width ascending from left to right.  The sides with fainter figure.  The table in two pieces of spruce with medium grain t the centre, broadening towards the flanks.  The varnish is of an orange amber brown colour.
