Cello Gagliano, 1770-1780,

Hand-made by Nicola Gagliano, eldest son of Joseph Gagliano, who lived and worked in Naples, Italy, around 1770-1780.
Special features: it has a clear, narrow grain on the front side and a beautiful orange/amber brown colour overall.
The Gagliano cello is the first cello we purchased, in January 2008.

It is quite difficult to find a good cello, in a more or less mint original condition, and we are very lucky to have found this Gagliano. It is considered to be a good and characteristic example of the maker’s work.
Jumpstart Jr. Talent Catherine Jones has played it from 2008 until 2012.
Since February 2013 Vladimir Waltham has been playing this lovely violoncello.
