Selection
Jumpstart Jr. selects its instruments with a lot of care. We work together with a trusted group of luthiers who offer us instruments. These instruments are put to the test in a soundtrial. Why a soundtrial?
Each player is always unique. A particular violin may be to the liking of one musician, but not to another's. Some instruments are easier to play than others. Instruments differ depending on who plays them. All instruments in the soundtrial are played with a number of different bows to see how this affects the sound.
We select instruments we believe will suit a large group of different players; are easy to play; and where the sound does not alter too much depending on who plays the instrument. All the instruments are tried out without the musicians knowing which luthier has built the instrument, so they are not influenced by a famous name.
After the sound trial we are advised on the condition and authenticity of the instrument. We only consider buying instruments which are in a very good condition considering their age.
The instruments are tried out in different settings to see how the instruments perform over a longer period of time. If we are happy with their performance we will try to add the instruments to our collection.
